Barrie Downtown Neighbourhood Association
About Us

The Barrie Downtown Neighbourhood Association was formed in 2009 in order to better represent the residents of this neighbourhood in affairs of local and regional government and to find ways to ensure that our people are supported adequately by the City of Barrie and its community service functions such as policing and planning.

Additionally the association cross communicates with other community organisations such as social support and activist groups, business owners and historical/interest groups in order to improve the quality of life of all residents in our area of interest.

The Barrie Downtown Neighbourhood Association is working to promote a safe, healthy, accessible city centre. Our goal is to make the downtown core the heart and soul of our community, inclusive and culturally diverse.

The boundaries of the associations interests are informal but in order to be effective we concentrate on an area defined as High Street to Berczy St, Lakeshore to Highway 400 including High St with an emphasis on the downtown core.

Membership is open to any citizen of Barrie who would like to be involved. There are no membership fees at this time. Any member may attend any meeting with notice (due to the restricted size of the meeting rooms).

The association consists of three sub-committees, the Steering Committee, the Long Term Planning/Property Standards Committee and the Crime Prevention & Safety Committee. These committees meet regularly and as required in order to drive forward the interests of our community.

You can find out more about the activities of the association by visiting our blog or checking out the events calendar on this site here.
